Premier League Bets – 3-4 October

Our Premier League tips this week come from Selhurst Park as Crystal Palace welcome West Brom in the early kick-off on Saturday and the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal face Manchester United on Sunday.

Premier League Betting Tips

Crystal Palace (1.75) v West Brom (4.75); Draw (3.60)

Alan Pardew has done a remarkable job at Crystal Palace as he approaches a year in charge at Selhurst Park. The Eagles recent 1-0 win at Watford epitomises how resilient they’ve become in defence, whilst possessing the attacking threats of Yannick Bolasie, Jason Puncheon, Bakary Sako and Wilfried Zaha.

West Brom threw away a 2-0 lead at home to Everton to lose 3-2 as former playere, Romelu Lukaku came back to haunt them with two goals and an assist. West Brom have yet to win at home and Tony Pulis will be slightly concerned with his side picking up just eight points from seven games so far this term.

The Baggies are yet to find their scoring boots and were the lowest scorers in the league before their two goals against Everton on Monday night. Tony Pulis’ side had kept three successive clean sheets on their travels, but were cast aside by Norwich City on their last away visit as they were comfortably beaten 3-0.

Palace are as high as seventh in the table and the early kick off means a win could move them up into third, jumping over London rivals, Tottenham, Arsenal and West Ham.

Arsenal (2.00) v Manchester United (3.75); Draw (3.40)

Arsenal were shockingly beaten at the Emirates in the week, with Greek side Olympiakos claiming their first ever victory in England. David Ospina’s howler and embarrassing defending on numerous occasions condemned them to a 3-2 defeat and that has now left their hopes of qualifying for a record 17th consecutive knockout place in the Champions League in tatters.

The Gunners are yet to pick up a point from their opening two group games and have back-to-back games against Bayern Munich to come.

Manchester United meanwhile overturned a 1-0 deficit to win 2-1 against Wolfsburg with goals from Juan Mata and Chris Smalling. The Red Devils again looked vulnerable defensively and with the pace that Arsenal possesses going forward, chances are likely to present themselves for both sides.

Hosts Arsenal have been made the favourites by the bookies which is surprising given their recent form and the fact United sit top of the table. Louis van Gaal’s side have won four games on the bounce and are unbeaten in four meetings at the Emirates, winning two including the last fixture in October 2014.

Arsene Wenger will almost certainly recall Petr Cech to the side and Theo Walcott is likely to have done enough to keep out Olivier Giroud up front. Aaron Ramsey started on the bench against Olympiakos and looks in-line to return as are defenders Nacho Monreal and Martin Debuchy.

Visitors Manchester United could remain unchanged from the side that started against Wolfsburg, but given the defensive frailties of both sides, goals has to be favoured at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
