Hosts Manchester United may not have scored in their last two games at home, but there remains plenty of momentum still with the Red Devils.
Having took 26 points from their first 17 games this season, Manchester United have since took 29 points from 11 games under Solskjaer, but arguably United’s best moments under the Norwegian have come away from home.
The hosts are likely to be without Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Jessie Lingard and Ander Herrera, whilst Marcus Rashford is a doubt.
That means the focal point in attack will sit with Romelu Lukaku, who bagged a brace against Crystal Palace last time out and who has scored seven goals in his last 10 Premier League appearances against Southampton. The Belgian incidentally, can be backed at 2.25 across a host of betting sites and that bet may be the standout call in this weekend’s match.
Another opportunity for the much-maligned Alexis Sanchez will likely be present, but it’s defensively at home that United have struggled with just two clean sheets at Old Trafford in the Premier League this season.
Visitors Southampton picked up a huge win against Fulham in midweek and The Saints will be looking to protect an away record that has seen just one defeat in their last five league games.
Forward Danny Ings remains sidelined still with a hamstring problem, whilst Ralph Hasenhuttl will also have to contend without Mario Lemina on Saturday.
Verdict
Whilst Manchester United’s injuries and recent poor run at home are obvious negatives, Solskjaer’s troops appear to still carry considerable momentum going into the match.
With Lukaku back scoring, expect The Red Devils to pick up three points against Southampton on Saturday.
