Manchester United v Manchester City – Betting Preview

Manchester United moved to within 11 points of fourth-placed Arsenal, with a 2-0 victory away at Upton Park.

Sportingly Better picks out the best Premiership predictions this week, as Manchester United host Manchester City.

Premier League Betting Tips

Manchester United (3.50) v Manchester City (2.15); Draw (3.60)

Manchester City will be looking to move within three points of league leaders Chelsea, with a visit to Old Trafford on Tuesday.

The Citizens were comfortable 5-0 winners against Fulham last time out, with Yaya Toure putting in another dominating display at the Etihad Stadium.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have won 11 of their last 13 matches in the Premier League, keeping clean sheets in the last four games, whilst the return of club captain Vincent Kompany from suspension should continue to boost the club’s recent defensive solidity.

Manchester City carry a fine head to head record after winning four of the last five meetings against Manchester United, with the Citizens having scored two or more goals in six of the last seven derbies.

Hosts Manchester United have injury concerns over defenders Chris Smalling, Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans going into the match, whilst Nemanja Vidic completes a two-game suspension, so the odds on the visitors to score two or more goals at 1.83 may appeal despite Aguero’s absence.

The Red Devils will again be without marksman Robin van Persie, so Wayne Rooney will continue to lead the line after impressing recently and hitting a wonder goal against West Ham last time out.

The Premier League champions have won just once against sides that currently occupy the top six this season, so the odds of 3.50 on the home win are unlikely to find much backing, given David Moyes’ inadequacy against the bigger sides this term.

A win for Manchester City would move the Citizens to within three points of league leaders Chelsea and although the hosts have showed glimpses of improvement in the last two outings, the visitors look well priced to come away with all three points on Tuesday.
