Liverpool v Manchester City – Betting Preview
Sportingly Better takes a look at the best value football tips this weekend as Liverpool welcome Manchester City to Anfield in the Premier League.
Weekend Football Tips
Liverpool (2.45) v Manchester City (2.90); Draw (3.70)
Liverpool will be bidding to maintain their lead at the top of the table, with title favourites Manchester City the visitors to Merseyside this weekend.
The Citizens have two games in hand over their title rivals, but a win for Liverpool this weekend would firmly swing the balance towards Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The Reds have won each of the last nine matches in the Premier League, with Sunday’s 2-1 victory at Upton Park their latest success.
Captain Steven Gerrard scored both goals in that game, but it’s the England midfielder’s dead-ball delivery this season that has been particularly effective for Liverpool.
The strike partnership of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez has currently enjoyed the second-best return in Premier League history and both players will go off as favourites to score this weekend in the anytime goalscorer market.
Opponents Manchester City picked up their fifth win in six games, as goals from Yaya Toure, Edin Dzeko, Samir Nasri and Stevan Jovetic gave the Citizens a 4-1 victory over Southampton.
Coach Manuel Pellegrini will again be able to call upon the services of striker Sergio Aguero following a 5 game absence, but Matija Nastasic remains out with a knee problem.
The Citizens have won seven of their last 10 matches away from home and their five match unbeaten run against Liverpool in all competitions will be comforting news for the visitors given the optimism on Merseyside this weekend.
Liverpool’s last nine matches in the Premier League have finished with three or more goals and with both sides offering plenty of quality in attack, expect an open game in what is a very decisive match for both teams.
