Huddersfield v Manchester City – Betting Preview

A 2-0 win over Bournemouth may have given Manchester City their fourth win in all competitions, but an injury to Gabriel Jesus has undoubtedly rocked the club, especially given the striker’s instant impact for the club.

Sportingly Better takes a look at the Citizens next fixture in the football calendar, with the club travelling to Huddersfield to take on the Terriers in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

Hosts Huddersfield Town were comfortable 4-0 victors in the last round of the FA Cup, with German striker Collin Quaner marking his Terriers debut from Union Berlin with a goal.

Highly-rated manager David Wagner said in his post match interview that it was not the style of football that he liked, despite his side hitting four goals away at Rochdale, but the club clearly remain on an upward trajectory under his stewardship.

The Terriers have won 12 of their last 14 games in all competitions and sit just five points behind  Championship leaders Newcastle and consulting some of the advice on Matched betting blog could provide a good betting strategy for those who want to bet on the club securing promotion this season.

The odds of 8.00 for a home win in this game however, reflect more the strength of the visitors than the form of the hosts and the biggest question mark remains whether Wagner will rotate his squad.

Club chairman Dean Hoyle openly admitted that a cup run was the last thing that his club wanted and it is certainly quite clear where the Terriers priority lies.

Visitors Manchester City are also expected to use the wealth in their squad, with a Champions League home tie with Monaco on the horizon.

Manager Pep Guardiola will of course be looking to win every competition his side are in and the Spanish coach will see the FA Cup as a winable competition.

The likes of Raheem Sterling, Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Yaya Toure, Aleksander Kolarov and Leroy Sane all found game time last time out, in the FA Cup, with the Citizens picking up a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace with ease.

Manchester City have won each of their last four games on the bounce, but the broken metarsal of January arrival Gabriel Jesus will undoubtedly be a blow, with the 19 year old Brazilian having impressed early on.

That absence could see Sergio Aguero return to the side however, with speculation continuing to mount over the Argentina international’s future despite being the club’s top scorer with 18 goals this season.

Verdict

Each of Manchester City’s last five games and each of Huddersfield’s last four games in the FA Cup have seen over 2.5 goals and with the visitors likely to name a strong starting line-up, expect the Citizens to bag the goals and come away with all three points with Manchester City likely to win at a canter on Saturday.
