Golden Boot Betting – Back Aguero Late On

With just the final round to go, Sportingly Better analyses the Premier League top scorer betting market ahead of the last weekend of matches; with Tottenham’s Harry Kane currently leading the goalscoring charts.

Golden Boot Betting

With 25 goals scored this campaign, England international Harry Kane missed out on a chance to extend his goal tally, as rivals Jamie Vardy and Sergio Aguero both found the back of the net last weekend.

Leicester’s Jamie Vardy had missed his clubs previous two games against Swansea and Manchester United, but the Football Writers Player of the Year scored twice against Everton last time out, as the Foxes began their title-winning party in style with a comprehensive 3-1 win over Roberto Martinez’s side.

Leicester’s fairytale of securing the Premier League title at ante-post odds of 5,000-1 may have significantly upset the bookmakers (lets have a look at some of the craziest sport bets ever made), but the striker’s odds of wrapping up the Premier League Golden Boot were at least a bit more respectable prior to the season kicking off.

Vardy of course famously scored for a record 11 consecutive Premier League matches earlier this season and more recently the striker has returned to that air of form with five goals in his last three league appearances.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane however, still remains the favourite to win this market at 1.67, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side coming up against Newcastle in the last game of the season.

After scoring 21 goals last campaign, Kane remains odds-on to wrap up the Golden Boot this time around, but the drop in form and motivation for Tottenham could leave the England frontman with no further goals added to his tally.

Kane’s slender advantage may well be taken over by Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, who will be eager not to let his side miss out on Champions League qualification, after being knocked out in the semi-finals of the competition and falling behind city rivals Manchester United in the race for fourth place.

Aguero has plenty of last-day memories after famously helping Manchester City to the title four years ago and although his goals won’t secure any silverware this time around, the Argentina international could still help Manuel Pellegrini’s side secure a dramatic Champions League finish.

Aguero brought up his Premier League ton earlier on in this campaign after just 124 games and one of the league’s star turns looks to have good claims for overtaking his more fancied rivals on Sunday.
