Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 6

Everton’s Leighton Baines was the highest points scorer in Gameweek 5, after scoring two free-kicks during the Toffees 3-2 win at West Ham.

Elsewhere Loic Remy kicked off his Premier League campaign with a brace as Newcastle lost to Hull, Mesut Ozil continued his impressive run of form for Arsenal and Sergio Aguero was on hand to score two goals as Manchester City crushed Manchester United 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Sportingly Better picks out the best fantasy football tips for Gameweek 6, as Tottenham host Chelsea.

Captain Choices

Wayne Rooney (MUN)

Wayne Rooney’s free-kick and performance at the Etihad Stadium was arguably Manchester United’s only bright spark during their 4-1 defeat at Manchester City and the England international will be keen to once again show his worth to his new manager on Saturday.

Robin Van Persie’s continued absence should lead to Rooney once again leading the line, but Javier Hernandez’s volley against Liverpool in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday will have done his chances no harm at all.

Opponents West Brom have yet to really be tested in the Premier League this term and the trip to the champions could see the Baggies league aspirations come under scrutiny this weekend.

Daniel Sturridge (LIV)

Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge failed to score in the Premier League for the first time this season last weekend and the availability of striker Luis Suarez could see Sturridge’s selection come into doubt on Sunday.

Sturridge however has not missed a minute of football for the Reds in the league this season, with the former Chelsea striker continuing his impressive run of form for Liverpool in 2013.

Opponents Sunderland have the worst defensive record in the league and although the managerless Wearside club may attempt to keep the game much tighter on Sunday, Liverpool’s attacking line will be keen to atone for their blank against Southampton last time out.

Mesut Ozil (ARS)

Arsenal’s club-record signing continued to display his match-winning quality for the Gunners, laying on all three of Arsenal’s goals last weekend.

More than a quarter of managers have now transfered in the Germany international and with games against Swansea, West Brom, Norwich and Crystal Palace on the horizon, Ozil may continue to attract investment.

Opponents Swansea have again looked impressive under Michael Laudrup this season, but Ozil’s class and guile could prove too much for the Swans on Saturday.

Transfer Tips

Artur Boruc (SOU) – £4.6m

Southampton’s Artur Boruc picked up his first bonus points of the season on Saturday, after keeping high-flying Liverpool at bay at Anfield.

The Poland international has established himself as Mauricio Pochettino’s number one goalkeeper this year and the arrivals of Dejan Lovren and Victor Wanyama appear to have given the south coast club increased stability at the back this season.

Opponents Crystal Palace have not scored in any of their last two games in the Premier League and Pochettino’s settled back-line look on course to record their third clean sheet in a row on Saturday.

Aaron Ramsey (ARS) – £6.2m

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey followed up his brace against Sunderland two weeks ago, after knocking in Mesut Ozil’s saved free-kick last weekend.

Ramsey has now scored seven goals in eight games in all competitions, form which has led manager Arsene Wenger to laud the players ‘obsession’ for improvement this season.

Opponents Swansea succumbed to a 3-1 defeat against Birmingham in the Capital One Cup last time out and Arsenal’s in-form midfielder could find himself on the scoresheet for the third league game in a row.
