Football Tips For The Weekend – 21-22 April

Stuttgart will have hopes of closing the gap on fourth placed Borussia Monchengladbach this weekend with Die Fohlen up against runaway leaders Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion.

Die Roten go into the weekend as the most in-form side in the Bundesliga, winning seven of the last nine games, including a 4-1 victory over eight placed Werder Bremen last time out. Stuttgart have scored 15 goals in their last four games with top goalscorer Martin Harnik and Vedad Ibisevic well amongst the goals, whilst ten of Stuttgart’s last 14 games has finished with over 3.5 goals.

Opponents Cologne have lost 11 of their last 15 games and Norwegian coach Stale Solbakken lost his job last week. Cologne look set for a relegation play-off match or worse straight relegation to the Bundesliga 2, whilst star striker Lukas Podolski looks set to also part ways. Cologne have the worst defensive record in the Bundesliga and Frank Schaefer will have his work cut out to keep Die Geißböcke in the German top flight.

Stuttgart have won on their last three tips to Cologne and another victory could prove crucial if Die Roten are to chase Champions League football this term.
