Montpellier moved three points clear at the top of Ligue 1 after securing a 3-1 victory at the Stade Velodrome.
La Palliade have scored more goals than any other side in the French top flight with Oliver Giroud currently Ligue 1’s leading goalscorer with 19 goals. Midfield playmaker Younes Belhanda has picked up 10 goals this season, whilst Montpellier have recorded three wins on the bounce, suffering just one defeat in 12 games.
Opponents Lorient have slid down the table, winning just once in the last 16 games, but Christian Gourcuff has had to do without both Kevin Gameiro and Morgan Amalfitano who moved on over the summer.
Lorient have lost their last two games on the bounce, with relegation an ever increasing possibility. With Montpellier eager to maintain their lead in the race for Le Championnat, MHSC should come away with another vital three points on Saturday.
