Football Accumulator Tips – 9 August

Blackburn and Cardiff opened the Football League campaign with a 1-1 draw last night as Tom Cairney cancelled out Kenwyne Jones’ opening strike for the visitors.

Selections from the Championship and the Football League make up the bets for today’s football accumulator tips on Sportingly Better, returning odds of 5.76.

Football Accumulator Tips

Derby (1.57) v Rotherham (6.25); Draw (4.33)

Derby County will be looking to put the heartache of their Play-Off Final defeat to QPR behind them, with newly promoted Rotherham the visitors to the iPro Stadium on Saturday.

The Rams have not lost on the opening day in any of the last five campaigns, but Steve McClaren’s side will have to do without George Thorne, Mark O’Brien, Zak Whitbread and Jake Buxton today.

Opponents Rotherham finished the season on a six match unbeaten run, but summer signing Febian Brandy looks unlikely to be involved for the newly promoted side.

Derby have won eight of their last nine meetings at home to Rotherham and the play-off hopefuls should get their Championship campaign off to a winning start on Saturday.

Leyton Orient (2.00) v Chesterfield (4.00); Draw (3.60)

Leyton Orient will be looking to put the disappointment of their Play-Off Final defeat behind them, with Chesterfield the visitors to the Matchroom Stadium.

Russell Slade has brought in a number of new faces into the club, leaving the O’s potentially handing up to seven players their debut today.

Opponents Chesterfield will be looking to build on their title-winning campaign from League Two last season, but Paul Cook will be well aware of the history of the Spireties who suffered immediate relegation after being promoted to the division three years ago.

Leyton Orient narrowly missed out on promotion last time out and the London outfit will be amongst the promotion favourites this time around.

Ipswich (2.70) v Fulham (2.80); Draw (3.40)

Felix Magath will be hoping to carry Fulham straight back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, with the west London side travelling to Ipswich on Saturday.

The Cottagers have splashed the cash on Championship top goalscorer Ross McCormack, a move that speaks volumes for their ambitions this season, but Fulham’s defensive showing will still be the main concern for fans, particularly with the likes of Brede Hangeland and Aaron Hughes both moving on.

Opponents Ipswich have a number of doubts and injuries heading into the match, but Mick McCarthy will be eager to show Fulham the competitive nature of the Championship.

Fulham boast a wealth of attacking talent in their ranks and the late kick-off at Portman Road could be perfect for an open encounter this evening.
