Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 6

Everton’s Steven Naismith bagged a hat-trick as Chelsea’s poor start to the season continued, whilst summer signing Dimitri Payet picked up a brace on Monday night as West Ham beat Newcastle to send the Magpies bottom of the Premier League.

Guest blogger Ashil Parekh picks out his best fantasy football tips for Gameweek 6, as Chelsea host Arsenal in the early game on Saturday.

Captain Choices

Riyad Mahrez (LEI)

After a surge of transfers, the breakout player of the season is now officially the most selected player in fantasy football with almost 45% of all fantasy managers now owning Riyad Mahrez.

The Algeria international managed just four goals through the entirety of last season, but after five games, Mahrez has already equaled that tally.

Opponents Stoke have yet to keep a clean sheet in the league, despite Jack Butland’s best efforts and the absence of defender Ryan Shawcross continue to affect the solidity of the Potters backline.

Mahrez’s exuberant confidence shows no sign of waning and another enigmatic display could be on the cards this weekend, with Mark Hughes’ side yet to click into any sort of gear.

Christian Benteke (LIV)

A spectacular scissor kick may have only been a consolation goal against Manchester United last time out, but Christian Benteke is beginning to show why Liverpool shelled out on the former Aston Villa striker this summer.

The return to the fold of midfielders Adam Lallana and Phillipe Coutinho should see Benteke’s chance’s in front of goal increase significantly and after being rested against Bordeaux in the Europa League, Benteke will be fit and raring to go against the Canaries this weekend.

Home games against Norwich and Aston Villa should provide plenty of transfer interest in the Belgium international who is beginning to adapt well to Brendan Rodger’s set up at Anfield.

Transfer Tips

Jack Butland (STK) – £4.5m

Despite failing to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League so far, no goalkeeper has made more saves and ball recoveries after five gameweeks than Stoke stopper Jack Butland.

After games against, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal, Mark Hughes’ side come up against Leicester, Bournemouth and Aston Villa in their next three games and the potential for a shut out should increase, with the Potters determined to pull themselves out of the relegation zone.

Opponents Leicester have become a cohesive and enterprising team under Claudio Ranieri, but a trip to the Britannia Stadium may upset the Foxes flow in Gameweek 6.

Jamie Vardy (LEI) – £5.8m

Three goals in five games has been the form of England international Jamie Vardy, who has helped Leicester climb to second in the table.

The Foxes forward has missed just nine minutes of action for Claudio Ranieri’s side in the Premier League this season and another start against Stoke looks a formality, given recent performances for club and country.

At ownership of 9.0% and a cost of £6.2m, Vardy remains an interesting proposition for managers who are looking to fill the third striking gap over the coming weeks.
