Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 3

Manchester City reaffirmed their title aspirations with a 3-1 victory over Liverpool, whilst Tottenham spoiled Harry Redknapp’s return to White Hart Lane with a 4-0 victory on Saturday.

Sportingly Better picks out the best fantasy football tips for Gameweek 3, as Everton host Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Captain Choices

Wayne Rooney (MUN)

Wayne Rooney will be looking to equal Thierry Henry’s record as the third highest goalscorer in Premier League history, with a trip to Turf Moor in the early kick-off on Saturday.

The likes of Juan Mata and Angel Di Maria in the flanks should provide Rooney with plenty of creativity and energetic drive, with Champions League football an increasingly important target after Manchester United crashed out of the Capital One Cup in the week.

Rooney will be eager to link up with Di Maria, who finished last season in La Liga with 17 assists and the newly appointed England captain and his teammates should find the going a bit easier against Burnley this weekend.

Stevan Jovetic (MCI)

Two games, two goals and two starts has been the ideal start for Stevan Jovetic, after a difficult first year in England.

The Montenegrin forward scored either side of half time against Liverpool last time out and another start at home to Stoke on Saturday looks assured given the doubts surrounding both Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero.

Opponents Stoke have failed to keep a clean sheet for 12 consecutive away games in the Premier League and Jovetic looks set to add to his promising start to the season on Saturday.

Transfer Tips

Angel Di Maria (MUN) – £9.5m

Manchester United will be hoping for improved fortune this weekend, when Angel Di Maria is expected to make his debut for the club.

The Argentina international made 17 assists in La Liga last season, four more than any other player in the division and the £59.7m capture looks set to be given a starring role by new boss Louis van Gaal over the course of the season.

Only Lionel Messi (57) has created more assists than Di Maria (49) in La Liga over the last four years and Manchester United’s record signing should immediately show his class against Burnley this weekend.

Aaron Ramsey (ARS) – £9.1m

Two goals in two games has been the return of Aaron Ramsey in the league so far, with the Welsh midfielder continuing to improve his reputation as a ‘goalscoring midfielder’ in the Premier League.

After missing the Champions League qualifier with Besiktas on Wednesday through suspension, the Wales international looks poised to feature from the outset, as Arsenal bid to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Ramsey has scored in four of his last five appearances for Arsenal and the newly promoted Foxes will need to keep a close eye on the player’s forays into the box.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (SWA) – £6.4m

Swansea made it two wins from two in the Premier League this season, with Gylfi Sigurdsson’s through ball to Lloyd Dyer proving the decisive goal against Burnley last time out.

A price rise of £0.4m has been fully justified, with the Iceland international a contender for the captain’s armband during Gameweek 3.

The focal point of Garry Monk’s side looks set to increasingly revolve around Sigurdsson and the former Tottenham player could once again be the Swans main protagonist this weekend.
