Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 15

Theo Walcott maintained his recent run of form for Arsenal by scoring the first goal at Goodison Park, but Marouane Fellaini’s seventh goal of the season rescued a point for Everton.

Gareth Bale scored for the third week in a row as Tottenham fought off Liverpool at White Hart Lane.

Michu and Pablo Hernandez combined to devastating effect as Swansea defeated in-form West Brom and Robin Van Persie’s first minute strike was enough to give Manchester United all three points against West Ham.

Sportingly Better picks out the best choices for the captain’s armband this week, as well which fantasy football transfers to make in Gameweek 15.

Captain Choices

Luis Suarez (LIV)

Luis Suarez has scored an impressive 10 goals in the league this season and Liverpool’s only goal threat remains the Premier League’s top marksman.

Suarez has enjoyed more goal attempts (84) and more penalty box touches (157) than any other player and the Uruguayan striker has netted three goals in his last two outings at Anfield in the league.

Visitors Southampton possess the worst defensive record in the Premier League conceding 31 goals and Suarez could be inline to add further to his tally on Saturday.

Robin Van Persie (MUN)

Robin Van Persie’s deflected goal against West Ham brought the Dutch striker to within one strike of Luis Suarez, after the Manchester United star showed sublime movement on the edge of the area.

Van Persie’s nine goals have come from just over half of the amount of efforts (46) that Suarez has attempted on goal and the Netherlands international continues to be an ever present pick for Manchester United. The Red Devils likely rotation on Wednesday night in the Champions League should leave a near first team selection for manager Sir Alex Ferguson on Saturday.

Hosts Reading are beginning to come unstuck and the solitary clean sheet at home to Norwich in October was the Royals’ only shut-out in the league this season.

Five of Van Persie’s nine goals have come away from Old Trafford and the Manchester United striker will be hopeful of finding the back of the net again for the league leaders this weekend.

Transfer Tips

Gareth Bale (TOT) – £9.8m

Tottenham’s Welsh winger found himself on the scoresheet at both ends of the pitch during the week, but Bale’s free-kick against Liverpool was enough to give Spurs all three points at White Hart Lane.

Bale has scored for the third successive gameweek in a row and no midfielder has attempted more shots on goal (50) or fired in more crosses (109) than Bale this season.

Bale did find the net in this fixture last season and a similar return could be on the cards for the Welsh midfielder this weekend.

Theo Walcott (ARS) – £8.7m

Theo Walcott’s early strike on Wednesday earned Arsenal a point at Goodison Park, with the midfielder notching his fourth goal in the league.

Walcott has been in fine form for the Gunners recently scoring nine goals in 11 games in all competitions and the England international is positioning himself perfectly in the transfer market with his future at Arsenal still uncertain.

Visitors Swansea have not kept a clean sheet outside of Wales since the opening game of the season and the form of Walcott could cause the Swans back-line problems in the Premier League this weekend.

Cesar Azpilicueta (CHE) – £5.6m

An ever-present after Rafael Benitez’s first two games in charge, Spanish right back Cesar Azpilicueta remains the best way into Chelsea’s defence, who look set for a increase in clean sheets this season.

Azpilicueta has been laying claims to be first choice for the Blues following starts in the last five gameweeks and the young full back has notched clean sheet points in each of the last two gameweeks for Chelsea.

Hosts West Ham have scored just four goals in the last six gameweeks and a Blues clean sheet could be on the cards at Upton Park on Saturday.
