Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 9

Sergio Aguero scored five goals as Manchester City heaped more misery on Newcastle with a 6-1 win, whilst Alexis Sanchez scored twice as Arsenal beat Manchester United comfortably before the international break.

Guest blogger Ashil Parekh picks out his best fantasy football tips for Gameweek 9, as Tottenham host Liverpool.

Captain Choices

Graziano Pelle (SOU)

Southampton striker Graziano Pelle helped the Saints to a 3-1 victory at Stamford Bridge before the international break, with the big Italian having now scored three goals and picked up four assists in his last three games for the club.

Next up for Ronald Koeman’s side is Leicester City, one of only three teams to yet keep a clean sheet in the Premier League. Pelle’s confidence would have sky rocketed by scoring the winner for Italy against Norway during the international break and the Saints focal point in attack should enjoy yet more form at home this weekend.

Alexis Sanchez (ARS)

After a slow start to the campaign, Alexis Sanchez has hit back to last season’s form, with five goals in his last couple of outings for the club.

The Chile international has the best underlying stats of any midfielder in the Premier League and with Aguero out for the next six weeks and Eden Hazard still looking out of sorts, Alexis Sanchez could well be the mainstay as a captain choice over the next month in fantasy football.

With 6.6 points per game and with a player ownership level rising to more than a quarter of managers, Sanchez may well look to reward managers again this week when Arsenal take on newly promoted Watford.

Transfer Tips

Bafetimbi Gomis (SWA) – £5.4m

After opening his account with four goals in the opening four games, Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis has failed to score in any of his last four games for the Welsh side.

A fixture punt perhaps, with Garry Monk’s side facing Stoke, Aston Villa, Norwich and Bournemouth over the next few gameweeks, Gomis’ confidence does not seem to be affected with 10 shots on target still registered in his current barren spell for the Swans.

Diego Costa (CHE) – £10.9m

Diego Costa finally returns for champions Chelsea after serving a three match ban and despite Jose Mourinho’s current selection uncertainty, the bullish striker looks set to be immediately reinstated for the Blues.

After a run out for Spain during the international break, Costa will be itching for game time, after scoring just once so far this campaign.

A twenty plus goal haul last season underlines the strikers prowess and given Chelsea’s upcoming fixtures, Costa remains a great differential with only a mere 5% ownership.
