Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 4

Premier League leaders Chelsea are back in action with fantasy managers expected to recall Eden Hazard and Fernando Torres to their starting line-ups. In-form Michu travels with the Swans to Villa Park, whilst Steven Fletcher will be hoping to build on his brace last gameweek as Sunderland welcome Liverpool to the Stadium of Light.

Champions Manchester City take on Stoke in the Potteries with Yaya Toure and Carlos Tevez both in form, but Manchester United’s Robin Van Persie and Shinji Kagawa remain doubts after picking up injuries on international duty. Sportingly Better picks out the best captain choices and fantasy football transfers for Gameweek 4.

Captain Choices

Santi Cazorla (ARS)

Cazorla has started life in the Premier League in impressive fashion and was instrumental in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Liverpool with a goal, an assist and two bonus points. The summer signing from Malaga has recently expressed his love of Arsenal’s playing style and has responded well to being selected in his favoured second striker role by manager Arsene Wenger.

Cazorla came off the bench for the last half hour during Spain’s 1-0 victory over Georgia on Tuesday and the midfielder should feature heavily against Southampton who have conceded two or more goals in every game in the Premier League so far.

Robin Van Persie (MUN)

Van Persie was hauled off by Louis Van Gaal during Holland’s 4-1 victory over Hungary with a suspected thigh injury and news of the striker’s chances of playing on Saturday will be closely followed by fantasy football managers. Sir Alex Ferguson will be desperate to have the Dutch striker available after the striker’s dramatic match-winning hat-trick against Southampton in Gameweek 3.

Manchester United welcome Wigan Athletic to Old Trafford on Saturday and the Premier League runners up enjoy a dominant record against the Latics. Van Persie found the net against Wigan for Arsenal back in December and the Dutch striker will be hoping he is fit enough to help his side maintain the pressure on rivals Chelsea and Manchester City at the top of the table.

Transfer Tips

Michu (SWA) – £7.3m

Michu maintained his record of scoring in every Premier League game with a powerful header in the 2-2 draw against Sunderland at the Liberty Stadium. That goal was the Spanish midfielder’s fourth of the season and Michu will be looking to again hit the target against Aston Villa who conceded three goals against Everton the last time they played at Villa Park.

Swansea’s fixtures continue to be favourable up until Gameweek 9 and Michu will likely add to his tally in the Premiership in the coming weeks after scoring 15 goals for Rayo Vallecano in La Liga last season.

Carl Jenkinson (ARS) – £4.8m

It’s three games, three clean sheets for Arsenal and young full back Carl Jenkinson is staking his claim for a  starting place ahead of French international Bacary Sagna. The 20 year old defender picked up consecutive bonus points in Gameweeks 1 and 2 and will be hoping he can continue his run of form this weekend against Southampton.

The Saints are yet to get off the mark in the Premier League and Jenkinson will be aiming to keep England call-up Adam Lallana and new signing Gaston Ramirez quiet on Saturday.

Carlos Tevez (MCI) – £9.8m

Carlos Tevez maintained his goal to game ratio after netting against QPR in Manchester City’s 3-1 victory  at the Etihad Stadium. With Sergio Aguero out injured, Tevez has stepped up for Roberto Mancini and provided crucial goals for the Citizens. Three assists and six bonus points highlights the Argentine forward’s contribution and Tevez will be hoping his sharpness and form continues against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.
