Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 38

Daniel Sturridge was the highest points scorer in Gameweek 37, after netting a hat-trick in Liverpool’s 3-1 win at Craven Cottage.

Elsewhere goals from Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla confined Wigan to relegation and a late Rio Ferdinand goal gave Manchester United all three points against Swansea, in Sir Alex Ferguson’s last ever game at Old Trafford.

Sportingly Better picks out the best fantasy football tips for Gameweek 38 as Newcastle host Arsenal.

Captain Choices

Gareth Bale (TOT)

Gareth Bale will be hoping to cap a fine individual campaign by helping Spurs finish in the top four on Sunday and the Wales international will be pivotal for Tottenham if they are to secure Champions League qualification this weekend.

The PFA Player of the Year has scored more goals from outside the box (8) than any other player and Bale’s threat from free-kicks and set plays will have to be closely guarded by the Black Cats back line.

Opponents Sunderland have managed just two clean sheets in their last 13 games in the Premiership and Tottenham’s most influential player will be desperate to help his team book their place in the Champions League next season.

Daniel Sturridge (LIV)

Daniel Sturridge scored his first ever hat-trick as Liverpool continued to find form without Luis Suarez in the Premier League and the England international will be hoping to force his way into Roy Hodgson’s thoughts ahead of the Three Lions international friendlies against the Republic of Ireland and Brazil in two weeks time.

Sturridge has fired in 10 goals in the Premiership since moving from Chelsea in January and a run of six goals in four games makes the left-footed striker the Premier League’s most in-form player going into the final game of the season.

Opponents QPR have kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 games and Liverpool’s promising striker could again find himself on the scoresheet this weekend.

Transfer Tips

Phillippe Coutinho (LIV) – £6.9m

Coutinho’s incisive passing once again proved to be the difference for Liverpool, as the Brazilian midfielder’s slide rule passes and through balls continue to provide the perfect ammunition for the Reds’ forward line.

Since arriving from Inter Milan in January, Coutinho has assisted a total of seven goals in just 13 Premier League appearances, but the midfielder’s goal threat has yet to be developed and nurtured under Brendan Rodgers.

Opponents QPR have kept just two clean sheets away from home all season and with four assists in his last three games, Coutinho looks set to again be Liverpool’s creative force on Sunday.

Theo Walcott (ARS) – £9.2m

Theo Walcott’s low strike in the second half helped Arsenal to a priceless win against Wigan on Tuesday and the England international will be encouraged by his recent run of form going into the final game of the season.

Walcott has scored in each of his last three appearances in the Premier League and Walcott’s pace on the break could be something manager Arsene Wenger looks to use going into Sunday’s match.

Opponents Newcastle have managed just one clean sheet in their last eight games at St James’ Park and Arsenal’s in-form striker will need to maintain his recent goalscoring run in a crucial game for the Gunners this weekend.
