Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 3

Everton’s Romelu Lukaku proved to be the pick of the round during Gameweek 2, with two goals as the Toffees picked up a surprising 3-0 win away at Southampton.

Elsewhere Barcelona forward Pedro joined Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, whilst Argentinean defender Nicolas Otamendi is the latest big money signing at Manchester City.

Guest blogger Ashil Parekh picks out his best fantasy football tips for Gameweek 3, as Arsenal host Liverpool.

Captain Choices

Bafetimbi Gomis (SWA)

It’s been two goals in two games for French striker Bafetimbi Gomis, who continues to prove the focal point of Swansea City’s attack.

The addition of summer arrival Andre Ayew coupled with the form of Jefferson Montero has given Garry Monk’s side a reinvigorated and dynamic attacking line-up, with Gomis likely to again lead the line for the Welsh club.

Goals against Arsenal and Manchester City last season highlight the player’s credentials and with a trip to struggling Sunderland, expect Gomis’ early goalscoring exploits to continue this weekend.

Sergio Aguero (MCI)

Put simply Sergio Aguero is the number one forward in the Premier League and it’s no surprise that fantasy managers have already begun using their transfer wildcard to bring in Manchester City’s star striker.

Aguero put in an impressive 90 minute display against Chelsea last time out and it was his performance more than his opening goal of the campaign that has got everyone talking.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have looked commanding in their opening two games and a trip away to Goodison Park should hold little fear for the Argentinean striker. Expect goals in this encounter and ignore Aguero at your risk.

Transfer Tips

Riyad Mahrez (LEI) – £5.8m

The heart of Claudio Ranieri’s explosive start for the Foxes has been led by the form of Riyad Mahrez, who is arguably on the precipice of the form of his life having scored three goals in two games for Leicester City.

Mahrez’s fantasy football price has already increased by £0.3m, the largest increase to date and the player comes across as midfielder who creates a lot of chances for his team and is confident enough to shoot at every opportunity.

The Algerian midfielder has excellent football stats over the first two matches for Leicester having taken ten shots on goal and created six chances for his teammates and the player’s confidence may well play a big part in his performance for the Foxes this weekend.

Memphis (MUN) – £8.5m

Switched to his favoured left-wing position against Club Brugge in the Champions League on Tuesday, Memphis’ two goals midweek may well have cemented the player’s start in the same position against opponents Newcastle in Gameweek 3.

The Dutch international should have completed his hat-trick, with the easiest chance of the match being squandered high over the bar, but the performance from the former PSV player will have excited the Old Trafford faithful.

Memphis had five shots on target and created three chances for the team himself on Tuesday and the summer signing should start on the left against Newcastle to continue his rhythm.
