Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 28

Maynor Figueroa was the highest points scorer during Gameweek 27, after picking up an impressive 17 points during Wigan’s emphatic victory over Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

Elsewhere, Tottenham midfielder Gareth Bale continued his fine run of form for Spurs with a brace on Monday night, whilst David Silva and Yaya Toure both found themselves on the score-sheet during Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Chelsea.

Forwards Arouna Kone, Rickie Lambert and Romelu Lukaku all proved their potential budget worth for fantasy managers with telling performances during Gameweek 27 and Manchester United’s Rafael capped a fine performance at right back with a thunderous strike during the Red Devils’ win at bottom side QPR.

Sportingly Better rounds up the best fantasy football tips for Gameweek 28 as north London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal meet at White Hart Lane.

Captain Choices

Luis Suarez (LIV)

Luis Suarez’s stylish solo goal against Swansea last time out, once again demonstrated the Liverpool striker’s ability inside the box as the Uruguay international scored his eighth goal in his last 10 appearances in the Premier League.

Over 305 penalty box touches have been completed by the controversial forward; a stat that may yet increase further with Daniel Sturridge occupying a more advanced role under Brendan Rodgers.

Opponents Wigan have the joint-worst defensive record at home in the Premier League and after bagging a brace against the Latics in the reverse fixture back in November, Liverpool’s Suarez will be confident of breaching the Wigan rearguard yet again this weekend.

Robin Van Persie (MUN)

Robin Van Persie’s tumble with the camera bank at Loftus Road last time out could leave the Premier League’s top scorer out of the tie against Norwich on the weekend, but many fantasy managers will be keen to gamble on the Dutch striker starting at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Javier Hernandez is likely to be drafted in for the Red Devils with Real Madrid on the horizon in the Champions League, but the Netherlands international remains the class act for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side after hitting 19 goals for Manchester United since his summer move from Arsenal.

Opponents Norwich have stabilised their slump in recent weeks, but the 26 goals that the Canaries have conceded on the road is a real concern and Van Persie could be part of a big score on Saturday.

Gareth Bale (TOT)

The Premier League’s most in-form player scored his second brace in two gameweeks after helping Spurs to a crucial victory over West Ham at Upton Park.

Bale’s goals could prove crucial for Tottenham, who are chasing the Europa League title as well as a top four finish in the Premier League this season and the Wales international continues to demonstrate his world class ability on the pitch.

Bale has already scored against Arsenal this season and the burgeoning world star will be many fantasy managers choice for the captain’s armband despite coming up against rivals Arsenal this weekend.

Transfer Tips

Moussa Sissoko (NEW) – £6.4m

Moussa Sissoko’s stock continues to rise after another fine performance during Newcastle’s 4-2 win over Southampton.

Sissoko has been a big part of the Magpies recent upturn in fortune, whilst the French midfielder has maintained his record of scoring or assisting in every Premier League game since his arrival from Toulouse.

Newcastle enjoy games against Swansea, Stoke, Wigan and Fulham over the next five gameweeks and Sissoko looks set to continue to provide a return for the 6.4% of fantasy managers that have already drafted in the France international.

Rickie Lambert (SOU) – £7.0m

Rickie Lambert’s twelfth goal of the season was not enough to stop Southampton from slipping to defeat against Newcastle at St James Park on Sunday, but calls for an England call up are slowly gathering pace.

Two bonus points in each of the last three gameweeks for Southampton highlight the form that Lambert is in, whilst seven assists in the league this season point to the strikers effort and all round contribution on the pitch.

Opponents QPR have kept just two clean sheets on the road all season and the Saints’ in-form striker will be chasing his thirteenth goal of the season after netting in the reverse fixture back in November.
