Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 25

Leighton Baines’ 17 points for Everton were the highlight of Gameweek 24 as the Toffees came away with all three points at Goodison Park.

Juan Mata continued his fine form for Chelsea, but the Spanish midfielders contribution was cancelled out by a late brace by super-sub Adam Le Fondre at the Madejski Stadium.

Elsewhere two goals from Wayne Rooney helped fire Manchester United into a seven point lead at the top of the table, whilst Oliver Giroud scored his ninth goal of the season as Arsenal were held by Liverpool.

Sportingly Better rounds up the best fantasy football tips for Gameweek 25 as Premier League champions Manchester City entertain Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.

Captain Choices

Theo Walcott (ARS)

Theo Walcott’s second half equaliser on Wednesday night rescued a point for Arsenal, as the England striker moved up to 11 goals for the season.

Walcott has scored in each of his last three games in the Premier League, as Arsenal bid for Champions League football and the former Southampton striker looks an increasingly important part of Arsene Wenger’s setup.

Eleven goals and nine assists represent a substantial return for fantasy managers who have seen the midfielder deployed further forward this season.

Opponents Stoke have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last six games in the league, conceding 16 goals and the form of Walcott could trouble the Potters’ out-of-form back line.

Robin Van Persie (MUN)

Robin Van Persie’s blank against Southampton at Old Trafford was the first time in six gameweeks that the Dutch striker had failed to score in the league, but the summer signing from Arsenal will be hoping to continue his excellent away record this weekend.

The Netherlands international has scored 10 goals in 12 away games for Manchester United this season and the Premier League’s leading marksman will be keen to get back to scoring ways, with Liverpool’s Luis Suarez closing in on the striker’s current tally.

Opponents Fulham have not kept a clean sheet in over 10 games in the league and Manchester United’s clinical striker should continue his form away from home on Sunday.

Transfer Tips

Julio Cesar (QPR) – £4.9m

Clean sheets against Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City have propelled QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar into the reckoning of many fantasy managers after a string of fine performances.

Deadline day signing Christopher Samba will boost QPR’s chances of shut outs even further, with the former Blackburn defender adept at marshalling and dominating the defending penalty box.

QPR boast a number of good fixtures over the coming gameweeks, whilst Cesar and QPR could register their fourth clean sheet in five games on Saturday against Chris Hughton’s goal-shy Canaries.

Frank Lampard (CHE) – £8.5m

Frank Lampard’s thumping header against Reading last weekend brought the Chelsea midfielder’s tally up to nine goals for the season, despite not featuring regularly for the Blues.

The England international has scored five goals in his last six league appearances, adding further weight to the call by many Blues’ fans to Roman Ambramovich in offering Lampard a new contract.

Opponents Newcastle have kept just one clean sheet in six gameweeks and the recent influx of signings may take some time to gel, leaving the veteran with plenty of opportunities on Saturday.
