Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 22

Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe bagged a hat-trick in a highly controversial match against Swansea, whilst Roberto Firmino scored twice as Liverpool held leaders Arsenal to a 3-3 draw.

Sportingly Better picks out the best fantasy football tips for Gameweek 22, as Liverpool host Manchester United.

Captain Choices

Yaya Toure (MCI)

Manchester City hose Crystal Palace this weekend and no player has a better head-to-head record than powerhouse midfielder Yaya Toure.

The Ivory Coast international has scored in four of his last five matches against Crystal Palace in all competitions and another strong display looks likely given the players decent form of scoring three goals in five games for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

The Eagles have kept just two clean sheets in their last 16 matches and Toure looks set to bully the opposition once again this weekend.

Wayne Rooney (MUN)

Wayne Rooney will be looking to score for four successive games for the first time since March 2012, as Manchester United travel to Liverpool.

The England international’s brace against Newcastle last time out, was not enough to entertain or for three points as the Magpies secured a point in a 3-3 draw.

Rooney missed the last encounter at Old Trafford, but the Manchester United captain will be looking to make continue his form against arguably the club’s greatest rivals.

Transfer Tips

Dimitri Payet (WHU) – £7.9m

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has arguably coped well without his star man since November, but there is no question that Dimitri Payet is a class above the rest of the Hammers players.

The France international highlighted his quality with a stunning free-kick against Bournemouth last time out and although the midfielder is unlikely to play for the full 90 minutes on Saturday, such is Payet’s contribution (six goals, five assists) that Slaven Bilic will have little choice but to start the player again this weekend.

Payet scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Newcastle in the reverse fixture and West Ham’s main protagonist looks likely to cause the most damage for the visitors.

Georginio Wijnaldum (NEW) – £6.8m

Georgino Wijnaldum’s goal against Manchester United saw the midfielder climb above 100 fantasy points.

All eight goals for the Dutch international have come in front of the home crowd and a return to St James’ Park could see the summer import secure back-to-back league goals for the first time this season.

Opponents West Ham are unbeaten in their last eight matches in the Premier League, but Newcastle’s growing optimism and ambition should see the home side score at least once this weekend.
