Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 21

Theo Walcott’s 26 point haul was the pick of the performances from Gameweek 20 as Arsenal defeated Newcastle 7-3.

Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko continued to stake his claim for a starting berth with two goals and an assist as the Premier League champions came away with the win at Carrow Road.

Luis Suarez got back to goalscoring ways with two goals, Rickie Lambert fired in his sixth goal of the season for Southampton and Frank Lampard showed he still has much to offer Chelsea with a match-winning brace against Everton.

Sportingly Better picks out the best fantasy football tips for Gameweek 21 as leaders Manchester United travel to Wigan.

Captain Choices

Juan Mata (CHE)

Chelsea’s Juan Mata’s was again at his instrumental best last weekend picking up his eighth assist of the season, as Chelsea claimed a credible win at Goodison Park.

Mata has now scored or assisted for Chelsea in each of the last five gameweeks and the Spanish midfielder looks an increasingly key player for the Blues. Interim manager Rafael Benitez has started Mata in every game during his reign at Stamford Bridge, but this weekend’s FA Cup action may give Benitez chance to rest  his star man.

Opponents QPR sit bottom of the Premiership and Harry Redknapp’s side turned in a woeful display against Liverpool in Gameweek 20.

Chelsea were 6-1 victors in this fixture last season and the Spain international’s class should  be apparent on Wednesday.

Robin Van Persie (MUN)

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini recently called Robin Van Persie the difference for Manchester United this season and despite not starting the match, the Dutch striker came off the bench to score against West Brom last weekend.

The Premier League’s top marksmen looks set to start Tuesday’s match against Wigan, with Sir Alex Ferguson likely to significantly change his squad for the upcoming FA Cup match against West Ham on Saturday.

Van Persie has scored six goals in the last seven gameweeks for Manchester United, whilst opponents Wigan are yet to keep a clean sheet at the DW Stadium this season.

Van Persie netted in this fixture last season for Arsenal and the Dutch striker should be on course for a similar return on New Years Day.

Transfer Tips

Edin Dzeko (MCI) – £7.3m

With Mario Balotelli seemingly outcast and Carlos Tevez struggling for goals, Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko has emerged as the leading candidate to partner Sergio Aguero in attack for Manchester City.

Despite playing over 400 minutes less than both Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez, Dzeko has netted a similar amount of goals in the Premier League for the Citizens.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has featured in 17 out of 20 games for Roberto Mancini this season and Dzeko could follow up from his brace against Norwich on the weekend with a goal against Stoke on Tuesday.

Aaron Lennon (TOT) – £7.1m

Aaron Lennon’s second half goal at the Stadium of Light completed Tottenham’s comeback against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

The pacey winger has been an ever present in manager Andre Villas-Boas’ system, starting every Premier League game this season and the England international has already equalled last season’s tally of four goals and four assists for Spurs.

Lennon’s raw pace has always troubled Premier League defences but the increasing maturity of the midfielder has led to improvement over the last couple of months and opponents Reading could be chasing Lennon around White Hart Lane on New Years Day.
