Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 20

Gareth Bale’s Boxing Day hat-trick at Villa Park was the pick of the performances from Gameweek 19 as Tottenham heaped yet more misery on Aston Villa.

Chelsea’s Juan Mata continued his fine run of form for the Blues with a match-winning goal against Norwich, whilst Patrice Evra scored his fourth goal of the season as Manchester United fought out a thrilling encounter with Newcastle.

Elsewhere Jonathan Walters and Kenwyne Jones helped Stoke to a 3-1 victory over Liverpool and Sunderland’s Adam Johnson returned to haunt his former club in a 1-0 victory over champions Manchester City.

Sportingly Better picks out the best fantasy football tips for Gameweek 20 as leaders Manchester United entertain West Brom.

Captain Choices

Santi Cazorla (ARS)

Two weeks ago fantasy managers witnessed the magic of Santi at Christmas following Cazorla’s stunning hattrick at the Madejski Stadium.

The Spain international has been the best player in an Arsenal shirt this season picking up seven goals, six assists and 12 bonus points and the level of involvement from Cazorla has been impressive. No midfielder has received more passes in the opposition half (922) or in the final third (488) than the former Malaga midfielder, who has also made more touches on the ball in the final third (793) than any other midfielder in the Premier League.

Opponents Newcastle have not won or kept a clean sheet away from St James Park in the league and Arsenal’s lack of involvement on Boxing Day should leave Cazorla suitably refreshed for the visit of the Magpies.

Robin Van Persie (MUN)

Robin Van Persie pulled himself level with Swansea’s Michu in the goal scoring charts after netting in a thrilling 4-3 victory over Newcastle at Old Trafford.

The Manchester United striker’s in-swinging cross in the first half also lead to Patrice Evra’s equalising goal, leaving Van Persie with his eighth assist of the season.

Wayne Rooney’s recent injury may have forced Sir Alex Ferguson to use Van Persie more than he was planning to over the busy festive period, whilst both Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck are expected to see increased game time over the next few weeks.

Van Persie netted against Gameweek 20 opponents West Brom for Arsenal last season and the in-form striker will have to be watched by the Baggies back-line who are yet to keep a clean sheet away from the Hawthorns.

Transfer Tips

Juan Mata (CHE) – £9.7m

Juan Mata’s third goal in four gameweeks was enough for European champions Chelsea to pick up all three points at Carrow Road.

Last year’s player of the year for Chelsea seems to again be the Blues’ leading light and the Spanish midfielder has linked up well with Brazil international Oscar following his arrival over the summer.

Chelsea have only once failed to score away from home in the league this season and Mata will need to be closely monitored by Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Asmir Begovic (STK) – £5.7m

No goalkeeper in the Premier League has recorded more clean sheets than Stoke’s Asmir Begovic (9) and the Bosnia and Herzegovina international will be looking to reach double digits this weekend as Southampton visit the Britannia Stadium.

Begovic, who has been linked with a move away from Stoke, has featured in every minute for Tony Pulis this season and the Bosnian goalkeeper has been a steady and solid influence over in the Potters back-line.

Stoke are undefeated at home in the league this season, having only conceded three goals and Begovic could be in line to pick up a tenth clean sheet against Southampton.
