Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 16

Two late goals from Spanish midfielder Michu helped Swansea defeat Arsenal in Gameweek 15 and the summer signing from Rayo Vallecano has arguably been the signing of the season.

Everton’s Marouane Fellaini continued to cause the big sides problems and the Belgium midfielder scored his eighth goal of the season, helping the Toffees to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

Robin Van Persie scored his tenth goal in the Premier League during an astonishing game at the Madejski Stadium. Strike partner Wayne Rooney was also on the score sheet in only the second match this season.

Liverpool picked up their third clean sheet in four gameweeks after a 1-0 victory over Wigan, whilst a Jermain Defoe brace helped Tottenham pick up a very credible 3-0 win away at Craven Cottage.

Sportingly Better picks out  the best choices for the captain’s armband this week, as well as potential fantasy football transfers for Gameweek 16.

Captain Choices

Michu (SWA)

Two late goals from Michu gave Swansea a priceless away win at the Emirates Stadium, as the Spanish midfielder continued to impress in England.

Only Marouane Fellaini has attempted more headed efforts on goal than Michu and the former Rayo Vallecano star has been increasingly employed as a striker by Michael Laudrup, despite the player’s preference of playing in the hole.

Michu’s 40 attempted shots have resulted in 10 goals and the Swans midfielder goes into the weekend as the most in-form player in the Premier League.

Opponents Norwich are unbeaten in eight games, but the Canaries have kept only one clean sheet on the road, conceding 14 goals and Michu has every chance of extending his impressive debut campaign in the Premier League this weekend.

Marouane Fellaini (EVE)

Marouane Fellaini’s left footed strike at the Etihad Stadium gave Everton a valuable point as the Toffees continued their chase for European football.

Fellaini has made more attempts inside the box (40) than any other midfielder and the Belgium midfielder continues to be the main protagonist in David Moyes’ side.

Fellaini has scored five goals in the last six gameweeks and only Gareth Bale, Robin Van Persie and Demba Ba have accrued more bonus point’s than Fellaini’s 16 this season.

The 18 headed attempts on goal highlights the former Standard Liege player’s threat in the air and Fellaini will be keen to keep the Toffees chasing a European place this term as Everton host Tottenham at Goodison Park.

Transfer Tips

Stephane Sessegnon (SUN) – £7.4m

Swayed by a double gameweek, Sunderland’s Stephane Sessegnon looks best placed to maximise the Black Cats bonus fixture in Gameweek 16.

The Benin international has been a long way short of the form he showed last year, which saw returns of seven goals and 12 assists, but the African midfielder has still been heavily involved for Martin O’Neill’s side this season.

Sessegnon has scored two goals in the last four gameweeks and the former PSG midfielder could provide fantasy managers with a good level of return during Gameweek 16.

Santi Cazorla (ARS) – £9.5m

Since his arrival from Malaga, Santi Cazorla’s involvement for Arsenal has been exceptional and the Spain international has made more touches in the opposition half (1,075) and more touches in the final third (695) than any other midfielder in the Premier League.

Cazorla has scored four goals and made four assists for Arsenal this term and the Spanish midfielder should dramatically improve that tally over the busy festive period with the Gunners set to enjoy favourable fixtures over the coming gameweeks.

Opponents West Brom have lost their last two games on the bounce and the Baggies are yet to keep a clean sheet on the road this season.

Cazorla’s involvement for the Gunners makes the diminutive midfielder the player to watch at the Emirates Stadium this weekend.
