Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 11

Robin Van Persie scored his eighth goal of the season as Manchester United eased to a 2-1 victory over Arsenal.

Marouane Fellaini scored both of Everton’s goals as The Toffees secured a 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage, whilst a  second half strike from Luis Suarez gave Liverpool another draw at Anfield.

Peter Odemwingie netted twice on Monday night as high-flying West Brom secured a 2-0 victory over Southampton.

Sportingly Better picks out the best rated captain choices this week as well as listing potential fantasy football transfers for Gameweek 11.

Captain Choices

Robin Van Persie (MUN)

Robin Van Persie took less than three minutes to score against former club Arsenal, as Manchester United comfortably beat The Gunners at Old Trafford.

Last Saturday’s opener was the Dutch forward’s third goal in three games and it was the early strike against Arsenal that maintained Van Persie’s position as the Premiership’s leading marksman with eight goals.

Van Persie now has more bonus points than any other player in the Premier League and the clinical striker looks to have carried on his form from last season.

Opponents Aston Villa have kept just one clean sheet at home and Van Persie has history in this fixture after netting last season at Villa Park for Arsenal and the Dutch forward will be looking to maintain his recent goalscoring run in the Premier League.

Marouane Fellaini (EVE)

Marouane Fellaini’s second half salvo extended Everton’s unbeaten run to seven games as The Toffees secured a point at Craven Cottage.

Last weekend’s brace took the Belgium international’s tally to five goals and only Swansea’s Michu has more goals as a midfielder this season.

Fellaini has had more goal attempts inside the box than any other midfielder this season and the intimidating Belgium has been increasingly used as the focal point in David Moyes’ side.

Opponents Sunderland have conceded six goals in their last three away games and Fellaini could prove to be the differential for Everton this weekend.

Juan Mata (CHE)

Juan Mata looks set to return to the Chelsea line up following his injury last weekend, with Liverpool the visitors to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Along with Eden Hazard, Mata has been an integral part of Roberto Di Matteo’s plans and the Spain international remains the most in-form midfielder in the Premier League.

No player has made more assists or scored more goals from outside the box than Mata this season.

Opponents Liverpool have yet to register a clean sheet on the road and the movement and interplay of Mata could be key to Chelsea securing all three points this weekend.

Transfer Tips

Ivan Ramis (WIG) – £4.5m

Ivan Ramis’ spectacular strike against West Ham in Gameweek 9, brought the Spanish defender to many fantasy managers attention, but it was the surprise clean sheet against Tottenham that makes Ramis a more enticing option.

Ramis has yet to miss a minute of football forThe Latics and the former Mallorca defender has been a key player for Roberto Martinez this season.

Opponents West Brom are yet to win away from the Hawthorns and the three goals that The Baggies have scored on the road suggests Ramis and co have a chance to secure their third clean sheet of the season.

Pablo Hernandez (SWA) – £6.1m

The signing of Pablo Hernandez from Valencia was much heralded by manager Brian Laudrup and the Spain international is beginning to show signs of his quality in the Premier League.

The Spanish winger has scored two goals in the last three gameweeks for Swansea, but it’s Hernandez’s time in La Liga that suggests more could be to come with the former Valencia player returning an average of five assists and four goals over the last five seasons.

Opponents Southampton have the worst defensive record in the Premier League and the ten goals conceded at home suggest that Hernandez may be in for a productive afternoon on the south coast.
