Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 10

Juan Mata scored his fourth goal in as many matches, but it was not enough to prevent Manchester United securing a dramatic 3-2 win at Stamford Bridge.

Fulham’s Chris Baird scored his second goal in as many weeks as the Cottagers played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

Sportingly Better picks out potential captain choices for Gameweek 10 including fantasy football transfers in the English Premier League.

Captain Choices

Robin Van Persie (MUN)

Manchester United’s Robin Van Persie scored his seventh goal of the season to help the Red Devils secure a valuable victory over Chelsea in Gameweek 9.

Van Persie has impressed in attack and the Dutch forward has also picked up an assist in each of the last four gameweeks for Manchester United, something the player was keen to improve on earlier in the season.

Van Persie comes up against former employers Arsenal in Gameweek 10 and the Gunners have been less than impressive recently.

Assistant manager Steve Bould has tightened up the Arsenal back-line and the Gunners now have the best defence in the Premier League, but Van Persie will be looking to prove he made the right decision in leaving Arsenal over the summer.

Gareth Bale (TOT)

Gareth Bale returned to the Tottenham starting line-up last weekend and duly netted against former club Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium.

The Welsh midfielder’s wide play has been good for Spurs with 66 crosses and balls fired in from wide this season, but the header against Southampton also highlighted Bale’s directness and ability in the air.

Bale has featured heavily for Spurs in the Premier League this season and the Wales international has picked up maximum bonus points four times this season.

Opponents Wigan were impressive last time out against West Ham and the Latics came away with a 2-1 win at the DW Stadium. Bale has a good record against Wigan and scored twice in the corresponding fixture last season and Bale should threaten Roberto Martinez’s three-man back-line on Saturday.

Juan Mata (CHE)

Chelsea’s Juan Mata goes into Gameweek 10 as the most in-form player in the Premier League after scoring his third goal in two weeks with a superbly taken free-kick against Manchester United on Sunday.

Eight bonus points in the last four gameweeks highlights the Spanish midfielder’s recent run of form and only Swansea’s Michu has scored more goals from midfield.

Opponents Swansea looked promising against Manchester City last weekend, but the 1-0 defeat was the seventh time that the Swans have failed to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League. Mata will fancy his chances of contributing again for the Blues on Saturday, following the injury to Swansea’s goalkeeper Michel Vorm.

Transfer Tips

Carlos Tevez (MCI) – £9.5m

Carlos Tevez’s goal against Swansea proved the difference during Gameweek 9 with the Argentinean forward grabbing his fourth goal of the season.

Tevez has been a key player for Manchester City and six assists and 13 bonus points highlights the strikers contribution for the Citizens this season.

Roberto Mancini clearly favours the Argentinean selection of Tevez and Sergio Aguero, with Edin Dzeko resigned to a substitute role and Mario Balotelli out of sorts.

Opponents West Ham have not kept a clean sheet for five games and Tevez will be looking to find the back of the net against his former club.

Steven Caulker (TOT) – £4.7m

Steven Caulker has forced his way into the reckoning at Tottenham after displacing Michael Dawson out of the side.

Caulker was an integral part of Swansea’s defence last season and the on-loan defender picked up 10 clean sheets for the Welsh side. The on-going injuries to defenders Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Younes Kaboul suggest that Caulker will likely remain in the Spurs line-up for some time, despite the depth of players in the Tottenham squad.

The English defender carries a threat from corners and set pieces and has already found the net against Aston Villa during Gameweek 7.

Opponents Wigan have managed just three goals away from home this season and Caulker will be looking to pick up his and Spurs’ second clean sheet of the season.
