Fantasy Football Player Picks 2011/2012 – Midfielders

Charles N’Zogbia (AVL) 7.5m

Fresh from his summer move from Wigan, French midfielder Charles N’Zogbia has been tasked with filling the void left by midfielders Ashley Young and Stewart Downing. N’Zogbia is no stranger to fantasy managers and has been consistent amongst the bonus points, picking up 31 and 33 points during the last two campaigns. In fact, last season only Lionel Messi attempted more dribbles than Charles N’Zogbia amongst the top five European leagues. N’Zogbia should not be constricted too much by Alex McLeish’s approach and at 7.5m is a solid buy, especially for a player who picked up 167 points last season.

Adel Taarabt (QPR) 6.5m

Perhaps the most important news from Loftus Road this summer is the announcement that Taarabt will be staying after overtures from PSG passed by. Taarabt is QPR’s main set piece expert and the Moroccan also finds himself on penalty duty for Neil Warnock’s side.  Last season Taarabt was arguably the main influence in QPR’s Championship winning side picking up 19 goals and 14 assists. A lot of QPR’s play and goals will likely go through the Moroccan and at 6.5m is well priced for fantasy managers.

Scott Sinclair (SWA) 6.0m

Another promoted player tasked with penalty duties is Scott Sinclair. The former Chelsea winger scored 19 goals last season in the Championship to help The Swans be the first Welsh side to be promoted to the Premier League. Sinclair is likely to feature in the vast majority of games for Brendan Rogers and with Nathan Dyer will likely see a lot of width and attacking intent especially at the Liberty Stadium.

Stewart Downing (LIV) 8.5m

A key player in the Liverpool jigsaw and in Kenny Dalglish’s blueprint is wide man Stewart Downing. Fresh from a summer move from Aston Villa, Downing picked up 7 goals, 9 assists and 18 bonus points last term and with Gerrard and Adam pulling the strings in midfield, expect downing to get forward and supply the ammunition more often than not for the likes of Carroll and Suarez. Downing should find himself in the starting lineup frequently this season and at 8.5m is a solid midfield choice.
