Fantasy Football Player Picks 2011/2012 – Forwards

Luis Suarez (LIV) 9.5m

Fresh from Uruguay’s Copa America success, Luis Suarez will be full of confidence after narrowly missing out as the competitions top goalscorer. The Uruguayan forward was a revelation for Kenny Dalglish following his arrival in January and with the additions of Downing and Charlie Adam in particular, Suarez can expect an increase in the quality and distribution to the front line and can act as the perfect foil alongside Andy Carroll. At 9.5m Suarez offers good value for fantasy managers and should prosper again this season.

Darren Bent (AVL) 10.0m

A lot of Aston Villa’s success will depend on the goals of Darren Bent this season. The England striker scored 17 goals last term and 24 in the 2009/2010 season and is undoubtedly a proven Premier League goalscorer. At 10.0m Bent is an expensive proposition especially given the loss of both Downing and Young this season, but the striker can be relied on to find the back of the net and is also Aston Villa’s number one penalty taker.

Bobby Zamora (FUL) 7.0m

Fulham and Bobby Zamora’s season has already got underway and the England forward has already bagged a couple of goals in the qualifying section of this season’s Europa League competition. Martin Jol is favoured for a more attacking stance and Zamora should play with more freedom and intent than in previous campaigns. Zamora is Fulham’s main striker and bar any injuries should feature predominantly for The Cottagers this season.

Kevin Davies (BOL) 6.5m

For 6.5m Bolton’s Kevin Davies represents excellent value for fantasy managers. The experienced Premier League striker has amassed over 130 points for the last 3 Premiership seasons in a row. The loss of Lee is a blow to Bolton who chipped in with 8 assists last campaign, but the summer arrivals of Pratley and Eagles in particular along with Holden and Petrov should provide enough service for the English forward. Owen Coyle’s attractive attacking mentality should see Davies contribute around the same mark again this season.

Demba Ba (NEW) 6.5m

Despite only arriving in January, Demba Ba notched up 7 goals, but was unable to prevent West Ham from being relegated to the Championship. The Senegalese striker joins new recruit Yohan Cabaye at Newcastle and are two of a number of French speaking players now in Alan Pardew’s side along with Hatem Ben Arfa and Cheik Tiote. Ba can expect to play a large part of Newcastle’s campaign this season and valued at 6.5m should do well.
