FA Cup Betting Tips – 9-10 January

This week our FA Cup betting tips come from Carrow Road as Norwich host Manchester City and from Vicarage Road as Watford take on Newcastle United.

FA Cup Betting Tips

Norwich (5.00) v Manchester City (1.66); Draw (3.80)

Norwich City ended a lengthy run of not winning back-to-back Premier League games with a 1-0 victory over 10-man Southampton. Alex Tettey scored the unlikely winner and that is now two goals in four games for the holding midfielder.

Alex Neal’s side have enjoyed a good Christmas period with three wins from their last four games and the Canaries will be quietly confident of avoiding the drop this year.

Visitors Manchester City showed their title credentials with a gutsy comeback at Watford to win 2-1 with a late winner from Sergio Aguero last time out and although Manuel Pellegrini will undoubtedly rotate his pack, the Citizens strength in depth is incredibly strong with the likes of Wilfried Bony, Jesus Navas and Pablo Zabaleta all likely to come in.

Goals have historically been on show between these two sides when they meet at Carrow Road, but take the early price on an away win, as Manchester City underline their squad wealth and the reason why the club remains such an attractive proposition, for Premier League bound manager Pep Guardiola.

Watford (1.80) v Newcastle United (4.33); Draw (3.60)

Saturday’s game at Vicarage Road may be a welcome distraction for Newcastle, but Steve McLaren is likely to give his side license to go on the frontfoot in what is likely to be an open game.

The Magpies suffered a narrow defeat against Arsenal last time out, but without the shot-stopping of Petr Cech, the north east side may have come away with a positive result.

Hosts Watford have come out of a difficult run of fixtures over the festive period, but the Hornets will be pleased with their reaction and performances against some of the division’s bigger sides.

Quique Sanchez Flores is likely to field a strong side for Saturday’s match, with the bookmakers pricing the hosts as firm favourites for the encounter.

In the past five meetings between these two sides in all competitions, four of them have seen both sides scoring and with both sides unlikely to hold back, expect goals at Vicarage Road this weekend.
