Saturday 5th May 2012, Wembley Stadium, 17:15 GMT
Liverpool v Chelsea

Match Odds

Liverpool 3.00
Draw 3.25
Chelsea 2.62

Team News

Defenders Gary Cahill and David Luiz are the only injury concerns for Roberto Di Matteo in an otherwise fully fit squad, whilst Chelsea’s interim manager looks set to decide between Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres in attack.

Charlie Adam and Lucas are ruled out for Liverpool, but Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez are set to return after missing Liverpool’s 1-0 loss against Fulham on Tuesday.

Match Preview

Despite a Champions League final in Germany to look forward to, Chelsea will be looking to lift the FA Cup for the fourth time in six years. The Blues have been resurgent under Roberto Di Matteo and produced an emphatic 5-1 victory over Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final.

Chelsea hold the much better form going into the final and even Fernando Torres has enjoyed a scoring run of late. Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo scored the fastest goal in FA Cup final history back in 1997  and the competition holds a certain affinity for the Italian.

Liverpool’s poor form in the league has been well documented, but the Merseyside outfit could secure a domestic cup double this season.

Liverpool enjoyed a straight forward route to the final and have a good recent head to head record against the London side. Kenny Dalglish’s men have won the last five encounters against Chelsea including three victories this season.

Cup specialists Liverpool will have their work cut out today against Roberto Di Matteo’s side. Chelsea carry momentum going into tonight’s match and Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres are both looking dangerous at the moment. Victory for Chelsea looks likely although Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard pose the biggest danger in Kenny Dalglish’s side.
