European Weekend Football Tips 20th & 21st August
Big spenders PSG are yet to record a win this season, but Antoine Kombouare’s side did manage to pick up a more credible result last time out; a 1-1 away draw at Rennes. PSG boast an embarrassing away of riches and talent in France’s top division and Jeremy Menez, Kevin Gameiro and Javier Pastore are just a number of new faces that have arrived in the capital.
Opponents this weekend are Valenciennes who are yet to find the back of the net in their opening two Ligue 1 games. VA have failed to strengthen their front line and a lot of pressure will again rest on Gregory Pujol, who scored 17 goals last season.
Valenciennes only managed to win twice away from home last season and Daniel Sanchez’s side look unlikely of picking up maximum points at the Parc des Princes.

Hamburg have obvious problems at the back. 5 goals have been shipped in their opening two games and the arrivals and transfer policy of Rothosen has raised a few eyebrows. Hamburg supervisor Frank Arnesen has overseen the arrivals of unproven youngsters Jeffrey Bruma, Michael Mancienne and Gokhan Tore and the summer arrivals will have their work cut out against Bayern Munich who can boast fit again Arjen Robben.
Bayern improved on their Bundesliga performances with a midweek win over FC Zurich in a Champions League qualifier. Bayern have invested well over the summer, particularly in defence, but goals always look likely with the likes of Robben, Gomez, Muller and Schweinsteiger on the Allianz Arena pitch.
