European Weekend Football Tips 15th & 16th October

A surprise 1-0 defeat at the hands of Chievo last month has been the only blemish of an otherwise encouraging start for the Partenopei. A very convincing 3-0 victory over Inter Milan last time out has increased the expectation on Walter Mazzari’s side and Napoli will look to build on that result with Parma next up at the Stadio San Paolo.

Parma have faced both Juventus and Fiorentina away from home this season, conceding 7 goals and not surprisingly they lost both games. The magician Sebastian Giovinco is a player to watch out for the Gialloblu, but with the likes of Cavani, Maggio, Hamsik and the much in demand Lavezzi in their ranks Napoli should have enough about them to pick up another 3 points at the Stadio San Paolo.

Schalke have lost only once in Gelsenkirchen this season and that was at the hands of leaders Bayern Munich last month. Since then Die Konigsblauen have won three on the bounce in all competitions and whilst the opposition has not been that testing, Schalke have managed to score at least two goals in each match. Compare that to opponents Kaiserslautern who have not scored in two games and have also only managed one goal on their travels so far this season.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is in a rich vein of form with 7 goals in 8 games in the Bundesliga and with Holtby, Raul and Farfan in attack, expect 4th placed Schalke to pick up another win at the Veltins-Arena.
