European Weekend Football Tips 10th & 11th September
The pressure appears to be slowly lifting off manager Antoine Kombouaré, with 4 straight wins recorded along with safe passage into the group phase of the Europa League. PSG look full of goals with the front combination of Jeremy Menez, Kevin Gameiro and marquee signing Javier Pastore working particularly well. The capital side have scored 2 goals or more in each of their last 4 games, but defensively appear to miss the presence of Mamadou Sakho.
Opponents this weekend are Brest who travel to the Parc des Princes. Brest have drawn each game so far this season in Ligue 1, but the only side of merit Alex Dupont’s side have faced is Lyon. With the forward line showing signs of real quality, PSG simply look too strong for their opponents on Sunday.
PSG to win @1.50
Wolfsburg are a side very much on the slide in the Bundesliga. Die Wolfe have been poor defensively this season, conceding 7 goals in 2 games and letting Danish centre half Simon Kjaer join Roma on loan will not have helped matters. Under fire coach Felix Magath has been given a vote of confidence, whilst Patrick Helmes’ agent has claimed that Magath tried to offload the German striker to to Saint Etienne during the transfer window.
Opponents Schalke have won the last 3 games on the bounce in all competitions and are another side that qualified to participate in the Europa League proper this season. In Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Ralf Rangnick has a striker full of confidence and goals. The Dutch international has scored 4 goals in both the Bundesliga and Europa League already this season and should help fire Schalke to another positive result.
