European Football Tips for the Weekend – 22nd Jan & 23rd Jan

Regular visitors know how much I check for Villareal’s home fixtures at El Madrigal. But this week a different market interests me for the visit of Real Sociedad. Goals are always a plenty for Martin Lasarte’s side and incredibly 90% of Real Sociedad’s away games have gone over the 2.5 goals mark. Real Sociedad’s star is right sided midfielder Xabi Prieto and the Spaniard will in all likelihood be playing his football away from Anoeta next season. Villareal have themselves been amongst the goals recently, with 3 of their last 4 games featuring 4 or more goals and Sunday’s encounter might well go the same way.

Another game that should include it’s fair share of goals is at the Stadio Friuli as Udinese welcome Leonardo’s Inter Milan. Inter’s last 7 Serie A games have featured at least 3 goals with Eto’o, Milito, Cambiasso and Stankovic all amongst the goals recently. 6 out of Udinese’s last 7 games in the league have had at least 3 goals with Denis, Di Natale and Sanchez chiefly responsible. The reverse fixture at the San Siro finished in a 2-1 win to Inter and I expect Sunday’s early kick off to finish with at least the same amount of goals.

Runaway leaders Borussia Dortmund were impressive last time out with a 3-1 away win against Bayer Leverkusen. Dortmund have been fantastic this season away from home but will surely not be troubled at Signal Iduna Park against a relegation threatened Stuttgart side who have not won away from home all season. The early odds for the home win look particularly inviting despite Stuttgart’s slender win over surprise package Mainz last weekend.

Dortmund to win @1.5
