European Weekend Football Tips 21st & 22nd May

Toulouse v Bordeaux is one of a number of games in Ligue 1 with not much to play for. Bordeaux secured their league status in France’s top flight last weekend with a slender win over PSG, but Les Girondins have had a poor season and have picked up only 2 wins in their last 10 games. A 4-0 defeat at Stade Chaban Delmas by a decent looking Sochaux side earlier in the month, has been the only sign of goals in recent weeks for the 2008 Ligue 1 winners.

Opponents Toulouse are in a similar slump with just 1 win in their last 9 games. Toulouse are in 13th place and will most likely take another share of the spoils after drawing three of their previous five games. Toulouse have scored less than a goal a game on average this season and with 83% of games at the Stade Municipal finishing with less than 3 goals, another low scoring match looks likely.

Athletic Bilbao know they have to match or better seventh placed Sevilla’s result if they are to qualify for next season’s UEFA Europa League competition. Sixth placed Bilbao are level on points with the Sevillistas, but are away from the comfort of San Mames having lost 10 games on the road this season. Bilbao have however scored in all but two of those games and with Europa League qualification on the line will look to top goalscorer Fernando Llorente for inspiration.

Opponents Racing Santander are safe in La Liga in eleventh place and carry an incredibly goal rich run of form at home going into the match. Racing have scored in all 10 of their most recent matches at El Sardinero and will want to continue that run in front of the home crowd in the final game of the domestic season in Spain.

Both teams to score (Racing Santander v Athletic Bilbao) @1.61
