Europa League Predictions – 2011 Final

Wednesday 18th May 2011. Kick-Off: 19.45, Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Ireland
FC Porto v Braga

Villas Boas and FC Porto have dominated both the domestic Portuguese Liga and also the UEFA Europa League this season and have rightly earned and played their way into the Europa League final in Dublin.

During the Group Stage FC Porto won 5 out of 6 group games scoring 14 and conceding 4 and through the knockout rounds they won 6 out of 8 games scoring 22 goals and conceding 10 as the goals flied in for the Portuguese League champions.

Braga are undoubted the surprise package of this season’s competition and have knocked out the likes of giants Liverpool and Benfica along the way to set up an all Portuguese final. Braga arrived in the Europa League after finishing third in Arsenal’s Champions League Group winning half the 6 group games scoring only 5 goals and conceding 11. During the knockout stages Braga only won 3 out of 8 games, illustrative of a side that is happy to settle for a draw in Europe and keep games tight. 6 goals were scored and just 4 conceded.

FC Porto have an incredibly talented manager in Villas Boas who undoubtedly has huge potential in European football. FC Porto have had plenty of time to get themselves ready for this game and their players should be chomping at the bit to add more silverware to an already fantastic season. Braga have done extremely well to get this far, but will surely come unstuck against the might of Villas Boas and FC Porto.

Best Bet: FC Porto to win @1.50
Value Bet: FC Porto to win both halves @3.40
Long Shot: Falcao to score 2 or more goals @6.00
