England v Peru – Betting Preview

The first of three warm-up friendlies takes place on Friday night, with England pitting their wits against South American opposition.

Sportingly Better takes a look at the best value football betting tips this weekend as England take on Peru at Wembley.

Weekend Football Tips

England (1.28) v Peru (10.00); Draw (5.50)

England will be looking for an improved performance on Friday, after labouring to a 1-0 win over Denmark last time out.

Roy Hodgson is likely to give run-outs to Phil Jones, Jack Wilshere and Phil Jagielka who have all struggled with injuries towards the end of the season, whilst a tactical shift away from the more defensive 4-4-1-1 formation could also be seen this weekend.

England captain Steven Gerrard and Jack Wilshere could find themselves in the double pivot in a 4–2-3-1 set-up, with Hodgson opting for the attacking intent of Adam Lallana, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Daniel Sturridge up front.

The Three Lions have won just two of their last seven international friendlies over the last 12 months, but the hosts will be looking for more buoyant performances after suffering back-to-back defeats against Chile and Germany in November last year.

Opponents Peru will be looking to win their first match in seven games as Pablo Bengoechea takes charge of the South American side for the first time on Friday.

Peru finished a lowly seventh out of nine teams competing in the South American World Cup qualifying section, winning just four of their 18 matches on the continent.

Bengoechea will be without Schalke attacker Jefferson Farfan, whilst 35-year old forward Claudio Pizzaro has been overlooked so an England victory to nil at 1.83 may tempt some backers.

England’s final warm-up clash on home soil should prove less troublesome than previous encounters and with plenty of inexperience both on the pitch and on the bench for Peru, expect the Three Lions to come away with a more resounding victory this time around.
