Copa America Final 2011 Predictions
Uruguay meet Paraguay today in the 43rd edition of the Copa America and few would have paired these two South American sides in the final before the tournament began.
Coming after a notable and impressive 2010 World Cup quarter final run, Paraguay are yet to win a game in the tournament, but still find themselves with a chance to win the most coveted prize in South American football. Paraguay’s success has largely stemmed from their defence, with Venezuela in the semi-finals and Brazil in the quarter finals both resulting in shut outs. Prior to the tournament Paraguay had picked up 4 successive clean sheets and according to the official statistics Paraguay top the positions for most successful tackles with Paolo Da Silva, Dario Veron and Cristian Riveros filling the top 3 places.
Uruguay however are looking for a record 15th title and a lot will hinge on the continued form of Liverpool front man Luis Suarez. Suarez highlighted his talents with a fine brace in the semi final win over Peru and with Forlan misfiring and Cavani injured another low scoring game in this editions Copa America seems likely, especially with Paraguay’s defensive emphasis.
Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals @1.5
Value Bet: Luis Suarez to score anytime @2.62
