Next Chelsea Manager – Football Predictions

With Carlo Ancelotti ruthlessly sacked, Chelsea are on the look out for a top European manager who can instantly deliver success as well as a brand of football that is pleasing to owner Roman Abramovich.

Perhaps closest to this has been Guus Hiddink who held a caretaker manager position in the second half of the 2008/2009 season. The Dutch tactician also holds an advisory role at Chelsea in terms of recruitment. Hiddink is also high in demand back in his homeland with both Ajax and PSV interested.

André Villas Boas is another reported target and after the Portuguese’s dominance domestically and success in lifting the Europa League trophy. Villas Boas has a €15 million compensation clause in his contract, which Chelsea would have no problem in meeting, but the whisperings around Porto are that Villas Boas is likely to stay and build a legacy for at least another season with promises of keeping his star players and a good relationship with Porto president Pinta Da Costa.

Another contender is Marco Van Basten who appears open and welcoming to becoming Chelsea’s next permanent manager. Van Basten also holds a good relationship with Guus Hiddink.

Other names in the hat are Frank Rijkaard, Harry Redknapp and Rafa Benitez.

Best Bet: Marco Van Basten @2.75
Value Bet: André Villas Boas @7.00
Long Shot: Frank Rijkaard @21.00
