Champions League Predictions 22nd Feb & 23rd Feb

Manchester United only manged 7 goals in total in their 6 games in Group C against the likes of Rangers, Bursaspor and Valencia. Wednesdays opponents Marseille scored 12 goals in comparison in Chelsea’s group, although if you take away the 7 goals away at Zilina they scored a goal a game on average. Marseille’s 3 home games at Stade Velodrome have yielded a total of 3 goals all of which were 1-0 scorelines. Marseille have doubts surrounding Remy, Brandao and Gignac and with Sir Alex Ferguson usually playing with 1 up front away from home in Europe, goals shouldn’t be expected in this televised match.

Under 2.5 goals (Marseille v Manchester United) @1.53

Chelsea’s remaining hope of silverware this season falls firmly into the hands of the Champions League now, after slipping behind in the Premiership and losing to Everton on penalties in the FA Cup. Chelsea have perhaps been handed the easiest draw in FC Copenhagen and it is a good job given Chelsea’s woes this season. Fernando Torres is expected to be handed his Champions League debut but David Luiz is cup-tied. Frank Lampard is finally back in the side and that is probably the biggest plus of all for Carlo Ancelotti. FC Copenhagen have not played in over 2 months because of the winter break, so Chelsea should have the competitive edge and of course star quality to come out on top.
