Champions League Predictions 15th & 16th March
Chelsea are quietly going about their business and are gathering momentum coming into the business end of the season. Chelsea have a 2-0 away advantage to protect after a decent result and performance at the Parken in Copenhagen. After the recent resume of the domestic calendar after the winter break, FC Copenhagen have hardly been assured, with an away loss against Midytlland followed by a narrow 1-0 win at bottom place Aalborg.
During the Champions League group stage Copenhagen found it hard to score against the more elite of Europe’s defence’s with only 7 goals scored in Group D. Chelsea on the other hand have a fine record defensively having only conceded 4 goals throughout the entire group stage. Even without the competition-tied David Luiz, Ivanovic is a more than capable deputy that should help shut out Copenhagen’s attack.

Bayern Munich handsomely dispatched Hamburg over the weekend with a 6-0 victory with Arjen Robben helping himself to a hattrick. Bayern secured a fantastic 1-0 away win at the San Siro a fortnight ago and will be confident of progressing into the Champions League quarter finals. Bayern Munich coach Louis Van Gaal will of course be moving on at the end of the season and with Borussia Dortmund a country mile away in the league, a run in the Champions League would be a credible swan song.
Inter Milan are progressing well under Leonardo and are a considerably sharper attacking force than under predecessor Rafa Benitez. But games in Europe are very different and Van Gaal will be setting up his troops to ensure progress in this competition.
