Sportingly Better picks out the best UEFA Champions League predictions and free football betting tips this week, as Bayern Munich host Manchester City.

Champions League Predictions

Bayern Munich (1.44) v Manchester City (7.50); Draw (5.00)

European champions Bayern Munich welcome Manchester City to the Allianz Arena on Tuesday, with both sides vying to secure top spot.

Bayern Munich set a new Champions League record a fortnight ago, as a 3-1 victory against CSKA Moscow earned the Bavarian’s their 10th successive win in the competition and the German side remain strong favourites for Group D’s final showdown tonight.

Pep Guardiola will again be without Bastian Schweinsteiger in midfield, so Philipp Lahm may be asked to provide cover for the back-line, after missing his side’s 7-0 victory away at Werder Bremen last weekend.

Opponents Manchester City can still win the group if they beat Bayern Munich by a bigger margin than the 3-1 win the German side recorded back in October, but the betting odds remain firmly in the hosts’ favour.

The Citizens have seen all five of their Champions League matches finish with three goals or more and further difficulties away from the Etihad Stadium are expected again on Tuesday, with Manchester City having failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their five matches in Group D.

Joe Hart is expected to be recalled in goal, but Yaya Toure‘s suspension could give holding midfielder Javi Garcia a rare opportunity in the middle of the park.

Bayern Munich have conceded just two goals during the group stages of the competition this term, but Manchester City’s attacking verve under Manuel Pellegrini should lead to the away side finding the net in Germany tonight.

Barcelona (1.18) v Celtic (19.00); Draw (8.00)

La Liga leaders Barcelona take on Scottish champions Celtic on Wednesday, with the Spanish still looking to wrap up top spot in Group H.

Barca slumped to a surprise 2-1 defeat in Amsterdam during Matchday 5 and although a point would be good enough for Gerardo Martino’s side to claim top spot, the Spanish giants are expected to name a strong side at the Nou Camp.

The absence of Lionel Messi continues to be scrutinised following the club’s first defeat in La Liga last weekend, but the return of Alexis Sanchez from suspension in Europe is a big bonus for the Spanish side.

Injuries to Dani Alves, Jordi Alba and Victor Valdes are still taking their toll, whilst Cesc Fabregas remains banned, so the likes of Pedro and Martin Montoya will get further chances to prove they are good enough for the Catalan club.

Visitors Celtic lost for the fourth time in Group H two weeks ago following a 3-0 defeat against AC Milan; a result which eliminated Neil Lennon’s side from Europe.

Celtic have failed to score in six of their last eight matches in the Champions League, and the Hoops two goals against Ajax back in October remains the only time that Celtic have scored in the Champions League this season.

Barcelona won the reverse fixture 1-0 earlier in the group and although the hosts have lost some of their magic with Messi on the sidelines, Gerardo Martino’s men should bounce back from a disappointing two weeks with a solid victory on Wednesday.
