Champions League Predictions – 1-2 October

The UEFA Champions League returns to our screens this week with Bayern Munich’s trip to the Etihad Stadium arguably the tie of the round.

Sportingly Better picks out the best UEFA Champions League predictions and football betting tips this week, as Ajax host AC Milan.

Champions League Predictions

Ajax (3.00) v AC Milan (2.50); Draw (3.40)

Dutch champions Ajax will be hoping to bounce back from their opening defeat against Barcelona, with AC Milan the visitors to Amsterdam on Tuesday.

Frank De Boer’s attack-minded outfit has seen de Godenzonen score a total of 19 goals in just eight games in the Eredivisie, with Saturday’s 6-0 victory over Go Ahead Eagles the latest illustration of De Boer’s attacking intent.

Icelandic striker Kolbeinn Sigþórsson remains Ajax’s biggest threat with a total of six goals in the league and although the club lost Christian Eriksen over the summer, there seems to be no let up in Ajax’s attacking play.

Ajax conceded twice against Volendam in the cup during the week and the switch in goal between Kenneth Vermeer and Jasper Cillessen suggests the visitors could also find the back of the net, with much regularity.

Ajax have conceded at least four goals in each of their last three matches in the Champions League. Back AC Milan to score over 3.5 goals at 15.00.

Opponents AC Milan are still beset with injuries, with coach Massimiliano Allegri still unable to call upon the likes of Stephan El Shaarawy, Riccardo Montolivo, Mattia De Sciglio, Giampaolo Pazzini, Matias Silvestre and Kaka in his starting line-up.

The Rossoneri picked up their first clean sheet of the season on the weekend with a 1-0 win over Sampdoria and victory in the Champions League on Tuesday could take the Italian side on the road to qualification after a 2-0 victory over Celtic in the opening game of Group H.

Ajax’s last six games in the Champions League have all finished with three goals or more and a distinct lack of clean sheets from both sides could spell goals at the Amsterdam Arena on Tuesday.
