Champions League Betting Tips – 8-9 April

Sportingly Better takes a look at the best UEFA Champions League predictions and free football betting tips this week, as Chelsea host PSG.

Champions League Betting Tips

Chelsea (1.80) v PSG (4.75); Draw (3.80)

Chelsea will be looking to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the Parc des Prince, as Ligue 1 leaders PSG visit Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho may gamble on starting striker Samuel Eto’o despite the Cameroonian striker missing the last three games, with the Blues needing to score at least twice to have any hope of progressing.

Chelsea have however recently managed to hit that target, with three goals against Stoke on the weekend, followed before that by a 6-0 thumping of Arsenal in the Premier League.

The west London club will be without Ramires, so David Luiz will likely to come into the double pivot, with attackers Oscar and Eden Hazard expected to be recalled to the starting line-up.

Opponents PSG will be without talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani is a more than capable replacement for the French side, after being fielded out wide on the right but coach Laurent Blanc for most of this term.

Ibrahimovic has had a hand in 20 of PSG’s goals in the Champions League this term, but the visitors do have a knack of avoiding defeat in this competition, with the Ligue 1 leaders have lost just one of their last 17 matches in the UEFA Champions League.

Given that Chelsea have to attack, the betting odds of 1.80 on over 2.5 goals may appeal, but the return of Hazard, Oscar and possibly Eto’o for Chelsea tonight could fire Jose Mourinho another memorable night in the Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund (2.90) v Real Madrid (2.37); Draw (3.50)

Real Madrid will be looking to book their place in the semi-final of the Champions League, following a 3-0 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu last time out.

Los Merengues were emphatic winners against Schalke in the last round, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale causing the German side plenty of problems on the night.

Champions League top goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo will be absent however, but coach Carlo Ancelotti is expected to be able to call up on Gareth Bale.

Real Madrid have won nine of their 10 matches in the competition this term, with the Spanish side having scored two or more goals in every match they have played in the competition this season.

Hosts Borussia Dortmund look all but poised for Champions League qualification again next year, but this tie appears all but buried for the Bundesliga side.

Bayern Munich-bound striker Robert Lewandowski does return for Jurgen Klopp’s side, news that will be a big boost for the hosts.

Dortmund have conceded at least two goals in each of their last three matches in the Champions League and the continued absence of holding midfielders Sven Bender and Sebastien Kehl is unlikely to help the home side keep Real Madrid’s Galaticos at bay on Tuesday.

This fixture has a high tendency for goals with five of the last six meetings going over the 2.5 goals mark and with Dortmund needed to attack, expect Real Madrid to score at least once to book their place in the semi-finals.
