Bundesliga Football Tips – 14-16 August

It was two out of two last weekend as a win for champions PSG and a strong performance from Caen against Marseille on the Asian Handicap delivered profit from both of our Ligue 1 bets.

This week’s European football tips come from Germany, as Bayern Munich kick-off the season at home to Hamburg.

Bundesliga Betting Tips

Bayern Munich (1.083) v Hamburg (29.00); Draw (10.00)

Pre-season victories over Inter Milan, AC Milan and Real Madrid were followed up by a rather routine victory over FC Noettingen in the DFB Pokal, but die FCB are once again expected to have another dominant season under Pep Guardiola.

The decision to offload fans favourite Bastian Schweinsteiger may not be the most popular decision at the club, but in Arturo Vidal; the Bavarians have arguably got an even better player than their former club legend.

The arrival of Douglas Costa will ease the ongoing injury concerns regularly regarding forwards Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, whilst Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski have both looked promising during the off season.

Bayern have won five of their last six meetings against the visitors and anything but a comfortable win is expected in the season opener in Germany.

Opponents Hamburg suffered a humiliating 8-0 defeat the last time the two sides met and after being knocked out by fourth-tier club Carl Zeiss Jena in the German Cup, the visitors look set for another long season again in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich to win AND over 3.5 goals @1.90

Borussia Dortmund (1.66) v Borussia Monchengladbach (5.00); Draw (3.80)

With Jurgen Klopp’s reign at the Westfalenstadion having come to an end at the end of last season, former Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel has been tasked with improving Borussia Dortmund’s fortunes.

A rather low-key transfer window has seen just Gonzalo Castro join the club, but holding onto key players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Sven Bender and Ilkay Gundogan could prove to be their best business yet.

A topsy-turvy season saw Borussia Monchengladbach start the season 10 games undefeated, but slipped over the following months before finishing strong; losing just one of their last 12.

Head coach Lucien Favre has strengthened his ranks with the permanent signing of Thorgan Hazard, whilst the additions of Josip Drmic and Lars Stindl should see the club balance their European commitments much better this time around.

Opponents Borussia Monchengladbach have lost just one of their last five Bundesliga encounters against Dormund and after some encouraging forward signings from Favre over the summer; expect the visitors to have a go at it and score at least once on Saturday.
