Bayern Munich v Manchester United – Betting Preview

Sportingly Better takes a look at the best value Champions League betting tips tonight as Manchester United look to build on their 1-1 draw from Old Trafford.

Champions League Betting Tips

Bayern Munich (1.30) v Manchester United (10.00); Draw (6.50)

Premier League champions Manchester United travel to the Allianz Arena on Tuesday, hoping to book their place in the Champions League semi-finals.

The Red Devils picked up a convincing 4-0 victory away at Newcastle on the weekend, but once again record signing Juan Mata will be ineligible for David Moyes’ side.

In-form striker Wayne Rooney is expected to play despite struggling with a toe injury; a player Pep Guardiola called a “key man for United”.

Patrice Evra will come in at left-back after serving his suspension during the first leg, but Marouane Fellaini, Rafael, Robin van Persie and Jonny Evans are all out.

Manchester United know they have to score in Germany to have a chance of progressing, but the Red Devils goalscoring record away from home currently shows the side scoring at least once in 19 of their 23 away games in all competitions.

Hosts Bayern Munich will be confident of knocking out the Premier League’s waning side, but a careless team selection and performance saw Pep Guardiola’s side lose 1-0 to Augsburg in the Bavarian derby on Saturday.

The European holders still have lost just one of their last 14 matches in the Champions League, but the late dismissal of Bastian Schweinsteiger in the first leg is likely to see a further reshuffle.

Defender Dante will come back into the side after serving a suspension, with Philipp Lahm again expected to operate as the anchor in front of the back four.

Pep Guardiola’s side are currently suffering their worst run of form since 2011 after going three matches without a win in all competitions, but anything other than a home win tonight looks virtually improbable, despite the German side’s aura of invincibility coming under question.

A repeat of the first leg’s tactics at Old Trafford is more than likely, with the Red Devils expected to soak up pressure and use the pace of Danny Welbeck, Wayne Rooney and possibly Shinji Kagawa on the break, but the hosts recent slip-ups will not be tolerated again tonight, with Bayern Munich likely to steal a march to Lisbon.
