Arsenal v Manchester United – Betting Preview

Sportingly Better picks out the best Premiership predictions at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, as league leaders Arsenal host Manchester United.

Premier League Betting Preview

Arsenal (2.10) v Manchester United (3.75); Draw (3.50)

League leaders Arsenal will be hoping to put their 5-1 thrashing at Anfield behind them, with Manchester United the visitors to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

The Gunners have won nine of their 12 matches at home in the Premier League this term, but concerns over the manner of defeat on Saturday will have left few backers for Arsene Wenger’s side on Wednesday, despite the visitors continued fall from grace.

Arsenal remain without key midfielders Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey, whilst Mathieu Flamini completes a three-match suspension, but summer signing Yaya Sanogo could be in the reckoning after returning from five months out with a back injury.

The Gunners have kept clean sheets in seven of their last eight home matches in the Premier League, but the return of former player Robin Van Persie will severely test the hosts recent defensive record at home.

Mesut Ozil’s recent form has come under criticism, but the German playmaker could be key for Arsene Wenger on Wednesday, if the midfielder can dominate proceedings with the visitors expected to see little of the ball this week.

Opponents Manchester United slipped even further away from a Champions League finish, following a 2-2 draw against bottom club Fulham, but a win in London on Wednesday could revitalise the Red Devils hopes of catching rivals Liverpool in fourth place.

Manchester United do however carry a very good record against Arsenal having won eight of their last 10 meetings in all competitions, but David Moyes’ increasing maligned side has looked increasingly fragile at the back after keeping clean sheets in only two of their last six matches in the Premier League.

Defenders Phil Jones and Jonny Evans are both absent to make matters worse, so the tendency for goals could well be encouraged, despite a dour 1-0 victory for Manchester United in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have won just two of their last six matches in the Premier League and despite the club’s attacking potential, the visitors look likely to again fall short on Wednesday.
