Netherlands v Argentina – Betting Preview

Brazil’s humiliating 7-1 defeat to Germany last night caught many people off guard, but our both teams to score football bet at evens landed in a night the hosts will want to quickly forget.

Sportingly Better takes a look at the best value football betting predictions ahead of tonight’s second semi-final between the Netherlands and Argentina.

World Cup Football Predictions

Netherlands (3.25) v Argentina (2.50); Draw (3.20)

Argentina will be looking to protect their 100% record in World Cup semi-finals, with the Netherlands the opponents in Sao Paolo today.

Alejandro Sabella’s side will be without key midfielder Angel Di Maria, but Sergio Aguero is available after overcoming a thigh injury.

The South American side have yet to go behind at the World Cup, something that the Dutch have already overcome against both Spain and Mexico in this tournament.

Argentina have won just one of their last eight meetings with the Netherlands, but their sole victory in 1978 did at least give them a World Cup trophy on home soil.

Opponents Netherlands however are sweating on the fitness of star striker Robin van Persie, but midfield enforcer Nigel de Jong could be back after recovering from a groin injury.

That news will be a big boost for Louis van Gaal, who could allow the likes of Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder greater attacking freedom going forward with the protection and security of de Jong behind them.

The Oranje have been slow starters in the tournament so far with 10 of their 12 goals in the competition coming after half time, stats that have not affected the odds on Holland to score in the second half at 2.00.

Argentina have yet to win a game by more than one goal so far and with a tactical shift likely to be made given Di Maria’s absence in midfield, expect the Netherlands to come through late on to set up an all-European final on Sunday.
