2014 FA Cup Final – Betting Preview

Arsenal will be looking to end a nine-year trophy drought on Saturday, with Hull the opponents in the 2014 FA Cup final.

Sportingly Better picks out the best English football predictions and football betting tips this weekend, as Arsenal face Hull.

FA Cup Betting Tips

Arsenal (1.44) v Hull (8.00); Draw (4.75)

Arsenal will be hoping to lift their first trophy since 2005, as Arsene Wenger’s side target a sixth triumph from their last seven finals in the competition.

The Gunners will assess Thomas Vermaelen and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of the match, but key midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere have both returned in recent weeks to boost the north London club’s form at the end of the season.

Polish understudy Lukas Fabianski is expected to get the nod between the sticks, after appearing throughout Arsenal’s FA Cup campaign, with lone striker Olivier Giroud looking to add to his tally of five goals in his last six appearances in the competition.

Arsenal Probable XI
Fabianski, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Ramsey, Wilshere, Podolski, Ozil, Cazorla, Giroud

Arsenal have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three FA Cup finals and the betting odds on an Arsenal victory to nil 2.10 may suit those backing the favourites this weekend.

The Gunners have fired 19 goals in their last eight matches against Hull; winning their last six encounters in all competitions and backers of the north London club may also look to exploit the Asian Handicap market.

Opponents Hull will be contesting in their first-ever FA Cup final on Saturday, but the Tigers will have to do without January captures Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic who both remain cup-tied.

Hull frontman Matty Fryatt could to get the nod up front despite not making a start in the Premier League this season, with the former Leicester City striker having scored 10 goals in 13 FA Cup starts.

Hull Probable XI
Harper, Rosenior, Chester, Davies, Figueroa, Elmohamady, Meyler, Huddlestone, Livermore, Boyd, Fryatt

The Tigers have won just three of their last 11 FA Cup matches against sides in the same division and Steve Bruce will have to carefully pick and manage his side this weekend if the coach is going to get his players firmly in the ‘big-match’ mindset.

Hull’s path to the FA Cup final has seen the club fire two or more goals in five of their last six matches in the competition, but breaking the Gunners rearguard will prove a difficult affair, with the underdogs aiming to keep the game tight for most of the match.

Whilst Steve Bruce’s side have already been guaranteed Europa League football this season, Arsenal have yet to lift a trophy since 2005 and despite some recent cup upsets over the last few years, the Gunners should carry all the necessary quality to conquer the Tigers today.
